The Need: Critical Care Nephrology community is under represented in the current professional critical care and nephrology societies and associations. Despite Acute Kidney injury being prevalent >20% in ICU patients, <3% of ICU physicians in USA are nephrologists. Outcomes for AKI are relatively unchanged despite recent advances and increased healthcare outlays in ICU. Hence the need for evolution of improved patient cares models and multi-disciplinary critical care approach.
Aim & Charter: ACCN aims to bridge nephrology and critical care and a voice for critical care nephrologists and advocates for patients with renal failure who would benefit from multi-disciplinary collaborations and seamless care.

ACCN aims to promote the critical care nephrology discipline by:

Advocate seamless patient centered ICU nephrology care by establishing a IHI Quality Improvement Chapter for ACCN which focused on improving and evolving delivery of ICU nephrology care.

Publication of the Journal of Association of Critical Care Nephrologists ISSN: 2573-9654 aims to be a voice and platform for high quality research in the discipline.

Venu M. Velagapudi MD, MBA

Founder and President

Critical Care Physician and Nephrologist. Emory University, Atlanta.

Dr. Velagapudi is a dual boarded critical care physician and nephrologist, clinical hypertension specialist and Testamur of ASCeXAM® and CCeXAM® and MBA from UMass Amherst.

Dr. Velagapudi trained for Critical Care Fellowship at Mayo Clinic, Rochester and Nephrology at University of Massachusetts Medical School.

He was Faculty at Yale Medical School, New Haven CT and joined Emory University.

His research interests include hyperkalemia, Acute Kidney Injury, AI, Clinical Informatics and Sepsis Cardiomyopathy.

He is the Editor for Journal of the Association of Critical Care Nephrologists.

Anu Vellanki

Dr. Vellanki is a cardiologist with interetests in cardio-renal syndromes, critical care, nephrology, and women's health.

Dr. Vellanki completed her internal medicine from UMASS, Worcester, and her cardiology fellowship from St. Vincent's Hospital, Worcester.

Dr. Vellanki represent the true multi disciplinary ethos of ACCN and provides collaboration from cardiology discipline.

Yoganand Rajala

IT and Innovation Specialist

Mr. Rajala is an engineering executive and technology entrepreneur specializing in location-based IoT systems and public safety software.

Mr. Rajala completed a Master’s degree in Electrical and Communication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).

His technical interests include cloud infrastructure scaling, hardware-to-software orchestration, anomaly-detection algorithms, and enterprise AI automation.

Mr. Rajala represents a bridge between technical innovation and executive management, bringing a track record of building scalable products and securing over 20 patents to the leadership team.

ACCN was founded in 2013 by founding president and CEO Venu M. Velagapudi MD, MBA who paid for founding expenses, maintenance of ACCNs website, journal and active participation in research, collaboration and consulting with other professionals and firms on his personal time and expense since founding Intellectual property, renumeration (monetary or shares or warrants) for work, research, consulting and other purposes to ACCN shall remain with founding president and CEO in lieu of his contributions to ACCN until otherwise notified and voted upon unanimously by the ACCNs office bearers The founding president and CEO has veto rights otherwise notified and voted upon unanimously by the ACCNs office bearers The office bearers are appointed by founding president until adequate membership and office bears threshold reached at presidents discretion.
